Essilor Varilux® XR series™ – the future of varifocal lenses

At Sight & Sound, we’re delighted to now be able to offer the new range of AI-powered lenses from one of our trusted and valued lens providers – Essilor.

Launching this month, Essilor’s brand new Varilux® XR series™ is the first eye-responsive varifocal lens, powered by behavioural artificial intelligence which uses more than 1 million real-life pieces of data from eyeglass wearers. But what does this mean?

The new lens can predict how your eyes look at things, allowing you to experience instant sharpness, even on the move, with the lens focus seamlessly shifting from near to far distances to allow you to see things more clearly. Essilor’s technology also minimises distortion at the edge of the lens to reduce the unbalanced sensation you get in situations like walking up and down stairs.
